Dragonball Movie Cast

Dragonball is a cult manga: fans are under alert and ready to voice their opinions in case they are not satisfied with the choices made for Dragonball the movie.

That's probably why we only have scarce details about Dragonball: the production does not want to suffer from a backlash....

Nonetheless so far the selection of the cast of Dragonball hasn't fueled any real controversy. After all it's not that bad and quite close to the characters of the original manga:

Goku, the hero coming from space Goku
(Justin Chatwin)
Bulma, pretty friend of GokuBulma
(Emmy Rossum)
Master Roshi the dirty ol man who is also expert in martial artsMaster Roshi
(Chow Yun-Fat)
Chichi, wife-to-be of GokuChichi
(Jamie Chung)
Yamcha a crazy boyYamcha
(Joon Park)
Piccolo the villain of the movie, nemesis of GokuPiccolo
(James Marsters)
Piccolo's head is
still kept secret...
But should be close
to what you see.
Update: We finally have a first look at Lord Piccolo:
Lord PiccoloWhatever the final movie looks like I think there will be something positive: at least this Dragonball movie is putting the spotlights of Hollywood on the great manga. Even if the movie does not transform into a great blockbuster we could hope that in the years ahead some equivalent to Christophe Nolan will reboot the franchise like he did with Batman!

But wait: Dragonball is probably gonna be a huge surprise and we won't have to wait for a reboot!
;-)

that is not Justin Chatwin thats the stunt double!

Yeah that guy doesn't look anything like Goku. Justin in his gi really is the real life Son Goku. This dude is just the stunt double

Hmmm,That stunt double guy looks more like the real Goku :/
Justin Chatwin is so skinny :/

Wasn't Goku supposed to be younger in Dragon Ball? I'm pretty sure he was younger and chubby, and that one guy sure looks nothing like Roshi. I would have chosen the wizard that plays Dumbledor in Harry Poter over him =/ Truly, I don't think Fox is going to make a fortune off of this like they expect to.

Goku should be an asian actor... and younger as well as Chi chi and Bulma. Chow Yun Fat is ok but he should have shaved his head. Picollo needs antennas. Damnit Hollywood f'ed up one of the greatest classic animes of all time.

WHATTEHELL

and,, btw.. i dont think that this is the Lord Piccolo it goed in the story..

because Lord Piccolo is the demon piccolo and that is like the father of this one..

furthermore, why is that dragonball shining so hollywood like at the upper left picture??

and the bulma actress does not fit neither,, she looks too nice, her parts in movies always are as a nicer girl then bulma can ever try to be

It's called Japanese animation.... why are the actors white Americans?

casting is definitely a disappointment, and i can already tell it's not following the original story line... man i love dragon ball and i am not excited at all to see it slaughtered like this. if piccolo isn't on point i'll demand my $ back in the first 5 minutes.

You guys are idiots. Chow Yun-Fat is the best actor in this list, and I don't really give a damn if he isn't a bald sunglasses-wearing dude. Go and watch The King and I, NOW.

They aren't going to get everything spot-on, and that's a realistic expectation. Please, just be happy that you're getting this movie. It's a good endeavor. It's also likely to be a good translation between Manga and Realism. It is also very likely to be a hit in the box office.

where is vegeta

Honestly People its a movie and we have no control over what hollywood does. They are the ones with the money and they are the ones making the movie. I have yet to find or meet a director that gives a crap what the fans want to see. All they care about is the fact that we are sitting here complaining yet you all are probably going to go out and see the movie and give them more money whether or not its a bad movie. so either dont go and see the movie save your money or go and see it and waste your money its really your choice. I cant say that I dont agree with you all but be for real the casting is already done the movie is already almost complete and edited to where it will be sent to the big screen. My least favorite thing though is that piccolo is not green and his ears arent long enough and he doesnt have antennas. The suit hes wearing is cool and does resemble the body in the cartoon but its too batman like. Also my dude krillin and Vegita should be in this movie... They pick yamcha over them two and completely add too many girls bulma and chichi would have been fine but this mao girl IDK. Ill go see it whether or not its bad!

This movie is going to be great, but they need more white actors... replace Chi Chi with Kate Winslet and replace Yamcha with Steven Seagal and then you'll have a great movie. Oh man can't wait to see this!!!!

Anonymous said...

where is krillen and gohan?????.....and the biggest character of all VAGETA!!!!...How are u going to put yamcha in the movie but not vageta....LAME

What the hell you did with the characters!

They messed up the casts really bad. DragonBall is so famous that everybody has been waiting for its first modern movie and now people will be disappointed because this movie will be like a spoof to the real Dragonball movie.

srry to say this but i have been watching dragon ball z, gt and all that since i was a lil girl. this cast i dont think will due for the movie in my oppion. i think the movie ppl could do better to find the right right ppl for this movie

Anonymous said...

I personally think it's not going to do well but I'm going to go see it any way and the movies is dragonball not dragonball z, so if i remember correctly vegeta didn't show up until season 1 of dragonball z but yeah they forgot about Krillin I do agree that they could have done a better job with casting I do like Chow Yun-Fat as Yoshi, but what ever happens just remember its Hollywood and they pretty much screw up any book or comic or manga that comes around instead of just sticking to what made it great.

To all the people whining about lack of future/mid characters like Vegeta, take a look at the title..."DRAGONBALL" Evolution, it isn't "DRAGONBALL Z" Evolution o.O
Aside from that these people are trying to give us a cool movie BASED ON but does not exactly follow the dragonball series.
I must say though that, yes, the cast looks nothing like the manga characters... I'm also disappointed that the plot does not follow the manga series... but inevitably, as someone earlier pointed out, I am still going to watch this movie. Being a desperate fan of DBZ and all, I really don't have many other options for live versions movies of the mangas to watch. =/

A dragonball movie? with this cast?!
thats a funny joke!

whahahahaha

It is a joke, right? right??!! :-S

After watching the movie, you have to expect deviation from the origional source. Son-Goku was horrible, Chi-Chi was excellent, great choice for Master Roshi, Yumcha was oppisite of Manga and animated series. i will not give spoilers or ending of movie. Rated 2.5/5

Yamcha isn't that far off, in Dragonball when they first meet him he's a bandit and trying to get mulah. just like the movie, and yeah vegita and gohan arent around yet at this point in the story they don't even know what a saiyan is until the first episode of DBZ. This takes place before that.
